submitted color standard to a CMYK during what is called
preflighting. (Preflighting is the process of ensuring that digital
files image correctly and will not crash the Raster Image Processing
(RIP) image when output to film. Most postcard printing companies
can print the highest quality images with raster images (.tiff and
.jpegs) separate from the application program that is used to create
the designs, if they are submitted at high quality 300 dpi
resolution, 8 bit, CMYK color mode.
Resolution, known as DPI (dots per inch) is extremely important to
the clarity and color of the postcard's image. In order for this
image to print correctly, the image should be at least 300 DPI at
the final output size. If you have a file that is not 300 dpi, it
may be possible to increase the dpi from a low resolution to a
higher resolution by increasing the DPI in your image program.
