Using Post cards for
Advertisement
Postcards are a useful tool when it comes to advertising your
business. In fact, they are generally the easiest and most effective
method used to capture the attention of the reader.
There are some guidelines to follow when using postcards to promote
your business. These include keep it simple; have a good mailing
list; frequency is important; follow up; impressive picture; follow
the printer’s instructions; proofread; maintain your mailing list;
and keep mailing.
The image on the front of the postcard should be attractive, but
also simple. Bright colored postcards will certainly get more
attention than drab, dark postcards. Design an image that is
visually easy to understand because the recipient will glance at it
before keeping it or tossing it. It is important to use full color
on both sides since postcards could be delivered on either side.
A good mailing list is crucial to your business marketing strategy.
It is also very important to customers and clients, especially
regular customers, but also infrequent, to you remind them that you
are still in service and would appreciate their business. That way
your company name will be “in the back of their mind.” You’ve heard
the saying “Out of sight out of mind,” thus, it is important to let
your customers/clients know you are still in business by sending out
several postcards during the year.
You should follow up with your main clients and prospective clients
so that you know who they are. You may phone, email or visit them
within a week to 10 days after you have mailed them a postcard.
There are
various means by which you can include a direct mail postcard into
your market plan, such as with subscription or renewal cards for
newspapers, magazines and other publications; order forms; survey
forms; coupons; small news releases and announcements; and with
products or services.
